NSPA Committees

We hope that every parent/guardian of a student at The New School of Northern Virginia is willing to be actively involved in our vibrant and friendly school community. Our lives are all so very busy, and time is our most valuable commodity. The NSPA encourages each parent/ guardian to become a member of the NSPA, and to attend NSPA meetings during the school year. Volunteer opportunities are plentiful. Some of these volunteer duties may be done at home in your spare time; other activities are more "hands-on" and will require your presence on campus.

Volunteer positions are available in a number of areas. As a guideline, we hope you will consider contibuting 20 hours towards school functions this year. How can you get involved? Here are some ideas:

help with the Rudolph Red Nose Run: be a timer, serve hot chocolate, bake cookies, purchase groceries, maintain the bonfire, register runners, help set up - every family is expected to participate in this event.
bring a dish to a pot luck or international lunch
support the Open House Sundays by serving refreshments or acting as a tour guide
donate or collect auction items (baskets or services)
make a Wednesday snack for the weekly faculty meetings
coordinate & tally grocery store benefits
serve as a Class Rep or share the job with another parent
help out with the Prom or Graduation Reception
help with the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
attend the Parent Coffee to answer questions from new families
serve on the NSPA Board
speak of your work experiences at NSNVA Career Day
serve watermelon & ice cream to students on Field Day... or fill water balloons!
attend the monthly NSPA meetings
